New Song Kansas City Initiative
The New Song Kansas City Initiative is our prayerful endeavor to see a new Christ-centered, gospel-proclaiming church in the heart of Kansas City. New Song KC (PCA) is the start of what we hope will be a gospel movement faithful to the Scriptures, true to the Reformed faith, and obedient to the great commission through church planting in the city.
Our mission is to see the people of Kansas City treasure God together above all else through the dynamic, transformative power of the gospel reaching people from all walks of life. Because God’s grace changes everything, we desire to make known God’s transforming and powerful grace to all in Kansas City and beyond. We desire to see Christ’s invisible kingdom made more visible in Kansas City and to see God’s will be done in Kansas City as it is in heaven.
In summary, our vision is to see people from all walks of life treasuring God together above all else: gathering by the power of the gospel, growing together in the wonder of the gospel, and going out to all in gospel love.

In Kansas City as it is in heaven
To see a gospel movement in Kansas City, we believe we need to start in the historic heart of Kansas City, more commonly known as Midtown KC. Midtown KC is a focal point for community interaction that draws from the whole KC metro. It is a cultural hub of the city that pursues the good, the true, and the beautiful. Midtown is the heart of Kansas City’s pursuit for the treasure of life and hope. We see this through the emphasis on education (the true), the creative arts (the beautiful), local community flourishing, and the longing for justice in the community (the good). To reach Midtown KC with the gospel, is to open the door for the gospel to reach all of Kansas City. Through the gospel, we believe God will transform the deepest longings and hopes of Kansas City into a new song to sing, a song of His redemption and joy resounding throughout every district and neighborhood in KC and beyond.

Meet the Planter 〰️
John is a Korean-American who grew up in various parts of the Midwest and Orlando, FL. The gospel and grace of God transformed his life during his high school years. After being saved by the grace of God, he sensed God calling him to give his life to proclaiming the gospel to all. He graduated from Wheaton College (IL) and Reformed Theological Seminary (FL) before being ordained as a pastor in the Presbyterian Church in America. He has served in a variety of church contexts in Orlando, Atlanta, and now Kansas City.
John is proud to call Kansas City home and has loved serving as the Assistant Pastor of Oak Hills Presbyterian Church since 2021. During these years in KC, John met his beloved wife, Abby. Together, their heart and passion is to delight more in Christ and to walk alongside others to delight more deeply in Christ through the gospel. They are excited to see what the Lord has in store for KC!
